December 4-Expectations

Expectations. Christmas season has many expectations. We have our ideas of what we want, who we want to spend the holidays with, and what gifts we plan to give.

When the angel appeared to Mary, she was not expecting that. Neither did she plan to have to tell her fiance that she is pregnant, and not by man but by God. How about telling her mother that? Although this happened nine months before his birth, I can imagine what a "blow" that was to the family and Joseph. Actually at that time the law had commanded stoning for adultery. But God...He is greater than the law, than the community, and the expectations of people.

God had it all in place and perfect timing years before it happened. And Mary was approached by the angel at the right moment.

God has your "christmas" all in place. If we trust Him, it will be so much more than we can plan. In the 29 years that I lived in Haiti, I do not remember spending a Christmas with family in the states. I may stand to be corrected in this. Most haitians never get a gift for Christmas, and seldom have a christmas dinner. Yet they are happy.

Let's be thankful this holiday season. God is so good. Mary sang a worship song to her Lord...Luke 1:46-55

God bless you
