December 22-Unculteral Christmas

Only 3 more days before Christmas. Are we counting? I wonder if Mary was counting until her baby would be born. Was she wondering if she would have a "normal" delivery since her the inception of her pregnancy wasn't "normal". She knew her baby was the Messiah. I can't even imagine what those 9 months would have been like.

Then came the night in the barn with the animals. And soon after the smelly shepherds off the fields who received the baby announcement. Everything about Jesus birth was out of cultural context. Yet it was so according to prophesy. I am sure Mary had to change her way of thinking just a bit.

So this Christmas don't feel like you need to be celebrating according to culture. Jesus truly is the reason for celebrating. Not the tree, presents, table full of food. It is all about Jesus. Without His coming there would be no true celebration.
